Hey members!
My name is Reldia, I'm your new co-founder here. I'm a breeder of British Shorthairs, from England, and I know plenty about this wonderful breed!
The British cat is a cobby build, with short stocky legs, a large head with big round eyes and small ears.
They come in various colours, including self colours (all one colour, like the famous blue), tortie - a mottling of black, blue, chocolate, lilac, cinnamon or fawn, with cream (or red in black tortie), tabby colours including silvers, silver shaded or 'tipped' colours, bicoloured cats and tricoloured cats, and the colourpointed, also known to some people as the Siamese pattern.
So - I have redone the gallery to reflect this diversity! Since cinnamon and fawn are still very new and quite rare colours, particularly outside of Britain, I haven't included a folder for them in the gallery. If you have a cinnamon or fawn cat, send me a note and I can open a folder in the gallery for you.
The new gallery set up is as follows:
Featured - This folder is closed for submissions. It is reserved for more professional-looking photography where the subject is a wonderful example of the breed and colour.
Black and Blue - This folder is for black British shorthairs, and the dilute form, the British blue.
Chocolate and Lilac - This folder is for chocolate British shorthairs, and the dilute form, the British lilac.
Red, Cream and Tortie - This folder is for red British shorthairs,
including red tabby and red spotted as red self is still fairly rare, and the dilute form, the British cream. This folder is also for the tortie ladies! (Trivia: All tortie cats are female)
White, Bicolour, Tricolour - This folder is for white British shorthairs, and bicolours (any other self colour with white), and tricolours (any tortie colour with white).
Colourpointed - This folder is for any colour of colourpointed pattern (the 'Siamese' pattern of coloured points). Also accepted here are the new colourpointed & white 'Snowshoe' pattern.
Tabby, Tipped and Smoke - This folder is for all colours of tabby British shorthairs, including tabby & white, tipped or shaded cats, and smoke colours.
Kittens - Regardless of colour or pattern, submit your babies here! Any British cat under 9 months old is welcome in this folder.
Groups - This folder is for groups of British shorthairs (except groups of kittens, which go in the Kittens folder).
Submission limit is 3 a day. Please submit to the right folder - submissions will be voted on and declined if submitted to the wrong folder. Your submission will also be declined if it is not a photo of a British Shorthair cat (ie, no cross breeds and no Scottish Fold).
If you have any questions or you're not sure what colour cat is in your photograph, send a note to the group and I will help you
Nice to meet you!
Reldia
(I don't know if she counts though because she is only part British Shorthair)
She has the overall build and coat length of a BSH, but the personality and markings/eye colors of a Turkish Van.
